CHAPTER NEWS – DISTRICT VI

11 CHAPTERS | 1 COLONY

Arizona Beta – ASU

Submitted By: Joseph Scanlon ’21

This semester we had our very first philanthropy week and it was a major success. The week was composed of fundraiser nights at restaurants where we would get a percentage of the sales and competitions among sororities. The participating sororities were Kappa Kappa Gamma, Kappa Delta, and Alpha Delta Pi. Between the participating sororities and brothers, we were able to raise over $1,000 for the Hazing Prevention Network. Our chapter of 101 active brothers came together and raised money for a cause vitally important to us. We look forward to improving and raising even more money with our next philanthropy week.

California Beta – Stanford

We recruited an amazing and diverse class of 29 people. We were very focused on the Rush process and planned way ahead of time. Our recruitment chairs were very organized and assigned members tasks before the recruitment process began. All of this, combined with our great energy during the Rush events, led to a successful recruitment week.

California Gamma – Cal

Submitted By: Wyatt Guerra ’23

Cal Gamma hosted its first — and hopefully annual — Delta Gamma x Phi Psi Pickleball Tournament this spring. Thanks to all the pickleballers who entered and many T-shirt sales, we raised nearly $600! All proceeds were donated to the Service for Sight and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

California Epsilon – UCLA

Submitted By: Braden Weiss ’22

We have been successful in recruitment, taking in 10 new members this quarter, which brings our total to about 45 on the year. Looking forward to the next recruiting cycle in the fall!

California Eta -Cal Poly

Submitted By: Aidan Borman ’22

Last quarter, the Cal Eta Chapter put a team together to participate in Gamma Phi Beta’s Sing It for Service philanthropy event. After weeks of prep, our team of 13 brothers ended up taking first place in the competition! We also raised about $5,000 for the Girls on the Run Foundation. We are proud to have taken part in such a great philanthropy.

California Theta – CSUN

Submitted By: Christian Reyes ’21

Cal Theta has been up to a lot of late. We initiated eight new members for the spring pledge class, which was the biggest class size during a spring semester for this chapter. We held two successful philanthropies where we raised over $4,000 during the past two semesters, and we hope to follow that up this semester too. We are growing more than ever before, and we hope to continue this growth going into the upcoming fall semester!

California Kappa – UC Irvine

The Brothers of the Cal Kappa Chapter had a brotherhood event spending the weekend at Joshua Tree. We hiked around, got in some card games, and enjoyed the night sky around the fireplace. It was a great way to reconnect with our chapter and its values before focusing on spring Rush!

California Lambda – San Diego State

Submitted By: Mario Addiego ’23

Before interim status in late February, our spring Rush consisted of 27 new members. We hosted a philanthropy event for our late brother, Sebastian Fivaz ’22, where we sold bracelets with our letters, his name, and his badge number.

Oregon Alpha – Oregon

Submitted By: Sam Costello ’23

We are looking forward to the FSL Games, a campus-wide event that partners fraternities and sororities. The teams compete in many challenges and events to gain points. We are excited for a strong showing from Oregon Alpha.

Oregon Beta – Oregon State

Submitted By Grant Koons ’21

Over spring break, the brothers of Oregon Beta attended Catalyst 2024 in San Diego, California. Catalyst is an immersive spring break brotherhood retreat that brings Phi Kappa Psi alumni and undergraduate brothers together to have fun, hear inspiring stories and plan chapter and individual successes. We also enjoyed a day trip to Rosarito Beach, Mexico. We had a blast and want to thank alumni Brothers Chris Gerritz ’06 and Clint Stubbs ’93 for their distinguished effort into making this retreat possible!

UC Santa Barbara Colony

Submitted By: Preston Cardoza-Schreck

We are pleased to report the successful re-establishment of our colony at UCSB, where we previously had a presence until 1995. Officially recognized on January 28, 2024, with 24 dedicated members and the support of our alumni, our colonization marks the return of our strong commitment to the university. We are obligated to uphold the Fraternity’s values and look forward to a promising future as we expand our Brotherhood and influence on and off campus.

Washington Alpha – Washington

We successfully rounded out our pledge class with five winter members bringing our total to 23. We look forward to building our upcoming pledge class in the spring and summer! Kudos to the Rush team!
