Phi Kappa Psi’s Grand Arch Council (GAC) is the biennial supreme governing body of the Fraternity. Members come together from across the country to propose amendments, elect Executive Council members, and make committee recommendations for the Fraternity. Think democracy, but also the biggest Phi Psi official party!

Undergraduates and alumni reconnect with brothers from near and far in a tradition that began in 1855, three years after the founding of Phi Kappa Psi. GAC has occurred every two years since, consistently delivering policies and decisions that keep Phi Kappa Psi going!

ONLINE GAC REGISTRATION HAS CLOSED.
ON-SITE REGISTRATION OPENS WEDNESDAY, JULY 10.

Members of the Order of the S.C. can still register for the S.C. dinner! Click here to go to the Order of the S.C. page for the registration link.

81ST GRAND ARCH COUNCIL

JULY 10-14, 2024

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everyone! GAC is open to all undergraduates, alumni, and family of Fraternity members. Here’s why:

We want your voice to be heard – GAC is the opportunity for members to express their thoughts, opinions, and vote on how Phi Psi functions.

Meet members and guests from all over the country – People from every state reunite or acquaint for the first time at GAC. Catch up with old friends, meet new friends, and share Phi Psi stories with us!

Opportunity to travel – GAC is held in different cities across America, giving the opportunity to explore somewhere you might’ve never been.

Events for non-members – For guests who are not initiated, there are guest programming activities provided while members conduct Fraternity business. Non-members are encouraged to connect with all attendees.

Chapters are required to send two delegates to attend and vote on Fraternity business. Alumni Associations may also send delegates to vote. Delegates must represent groups that are in good standing and do not have outstanding dues (90 days or more overdue) to be eligible to vote on Fraternity business at GAC. If groups are not in good standing and have outstanding dues, they cannot vote.

Chapters who do not send delegates to GAC will be fined. There is no fine for Alumni Associations for not sending delegates.

Colonies are required to send delegates but cannot vote on Fraternity business.

Opportunities to engage in brotherhood

GAC kicks off with a President’s Reception where brothers gather to catch up and socialize with fellow members, honored guests, Executive Council, and headquarters staff.

GAC ends with a final banquet to celebrate a successful conference! Awards are given to individuals and chapters to highlight their accomplishments.

Conducting Business

Business at each GAC includes general sessions, committee sessions, and district meetings. Attending members conduct fraternity business and socialize with brothers from across their region and nation.

General sessions are just like chapter meetings – conducting new business, committee reports, voting on new Executive Council Alumni members, and much more.

Just like in a chapter, members attend committee meetings to collaborate with one another and brainstorm ways to progress our Fraternity. Committees will then reconvene and share their reports at a general session along with recommendations they may have for Headquarters staff.

District meetings are when groups (chapters and alumni associations) from each district assemble to discuss current updates from their group.

For non-members attending, guest programming is available with activities and events while members conduct Fraternity business.

A full schedule of this upcoming GAC will be provided soon, but above is the gist of what traditionally happens. Can’t wait to see you!

Below you will find the Guest Program for GAC in July. Please note that events are already included in the Full Registration ticket price, but must be added at an additional charge in the Base Registration ticket.

Thursday, July 11:

There are two options to the guest program on Thursday. You will have the option to pick one:

  • Minneapolis Bus Tour and Urban Forage Winery and Cider House (3 hour bus tour, wine tasting, and lunch)
  • Minneapolis Bus Tour and Como Zoo (3 hour bus tour and tickets to the zoo are provided. Lunch will be on your own.)

Friday, July 12:

  • Mississippi River Boat Tour and Lunch

Saturday, July 13:

  • Mill City Museum and Lunch

Online registration has closed. On-site registration will open on Wednesday, July 10 at the Hilton Minneapolis.

Unfortunately, GAC tickets are NON-REFUNDABLE.

However, tickets are transferrable between members. If you end up purchasing a ticket and find out you are unable to make it, you can transfer your ticket to another Phi Psi member at no extra cost.

This year, we are encouraging members and non-members alike to pre-register for the 81st Grand Arch Council by offering the opportunity to be among the first to order our newly branded Phi Psi polos – and at a discounted price!

Once you register for GAC, you will get a confirmation email thanking you for purchasing your ticket. This email will also include the link to the new design available for purchase.

Phi Kappa Psi is holding the Grand Arch Council at the Hilton Minneapolis. You can make hotel reservations at this hotel or any of the surrounding hotels.

Please note: Though Phi Kappa Psi does not cover the cost of hotel for delegates attending GAC, hotel costs were included in chapter dues, and therefore no action is needed for colony/chapter delegates to reserve a room.

Good question!

Full Registration covers costs for the President’s Reception, Final Banquet, breakfast each day, and each daily event.

Base Registration covers costs for the President’s Reception, Final Banquet, and breakfast on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. You will have the option to add on daily events individually at an additional price.

Please note: Space is limited for the number of people who can attend some of the events related to the guest program. If the number of registration exceeds the capacity, priority will be given to those who registered for the full guest program.
