Executive Council declares state of emergency
Cancels 2020 Grand Arch Council

The Executive Council of Phi Kappa Psi has voted to declare a state of emergency in the fraternity, leading to the decision to cancel the 2020 Grand Arch Council (GAC) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Phi Kappa Psi has reached an agreement with the Hilton Minneapolis to host the 2024 GAC, with exact dates to be announced later.

All members and guests who previously registered for GAC are being contacted directly to arrange for a full refund for their registration.

As a result of this cancellation, the current Executive Board (President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary) will remain in their positions until the next election at the 2022 GAC that will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana, home of Phi Kappa Psi Headquarters. GAC will take place from Wednesday, July 27 to Sunday, July 31, 2022. More information will be announced in May 2021.

This marks the third time in Phi Psi’s history that the Executive Council has declared a state of emergency. The first was in 1933 during the Great Depression leading to the cancellation of the District Council meeting, and the second was in response to World War II, canceling the 1944 Grand Arch Council as well as the 1943 and 1945 District Council meetings.

At this time, the Executive Council must keep the health and safety of our members in the forefront of all decisions, knowing that there will be a time in the future when we can once again gather and celebrate all that it means to be a Phi Psi.
