Approved Chartering for Gettysburg College Colony & West Virginia University Colony

Indianapolis, June 24, 2017 – On June 23rd, the Phi Kappa Psi Executive Council voted to approve the chartering petition for two existing colonies: Gettysburg College and West Virginia University.

The Gettysburg College Colony was re-established as a colony in fall 2014 after a brief hiatus and has been working toward the submission of a chartering petition since then. Among many standards that the colony was required to reach, the men achieved an average of over 34 hours of community service per man, the highest fraternity cumulative GPA for numerous semesters in a row, first place in Greek Air Band and a number of other accolades.

The West Virginia University Colony was re-established in fall 2016. Before the chapter’s suspension in 2013, the chapter had an uninterrupted history of 123 years. The West Virginia University Colony has achieved first place among IFC fraternities in grades for the past two semesters and also achieved an average of over $180 raised per man to benefit various philanthropies.

Phi Kappa Psi is proud to re-establish both the Pennsylvania Epsilon and West Virginia Alpha chapters of our beloved Fraternity this coming fall. The chartering dates for both of these groups will be released in the near future.

The Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity, founded in 1852 at Jefferson College, engages men of integrity, further develops their intellect and enhances community involvement. With a legacy built on acceptance and trust, each brother realizes his highest potential through a lifelong experience of service and excellence. Today there are 106 undergraduate chapters and colonies, 51 alumni associations and more than 124,000 lifetime initiates.
