Colorado Alpha – Colorado

Philanthropy is something that we take very seriously at Colorado Alpha and this semester has been no exception. One big impact event we facilitated was the Hockey Tournament, which aimed to raise awareness for End Overdose. We successfully raised over $4,000 to spread awareness for this sensitive topic. The chapter takes pride in our annual effort to raise money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. This year, we did a Dine and Donate event at BJ’s to raise money for the cause. Brother Josh Fein ’20 had an aunt, Jori, who died from suicide, so we wore blue to raise awareness and honor her memory.

Iowa Alpha is grateful to receive the Mary Peterson Award for raising the most money — over $24,000 — out of all Greek life at the university Dance Marathon. All the kids we danced for are stronger than we could imagine. Dance Marathon remains a staple of our philanthropic events, and we will be continuing that in the future.

At Iowa State University, Greek Week is a yearly competition between teams of randomly paired sororities and fraternities in the Greek community. Each team battles against one another in various creative, philanthropic, and athletic events. In a joint effort alongside the Delta Gamma Sorority, Iowa Beta triumphed over the competition. This marked the second year in a row the chapter has placed first overall in Greek Week. Iowa Beta and Delta Gamma performed well across the board, placing first in Tournaments (sports), second in Banner (a painted display), second in Karaoke, second in Greek Olympics (outdoor games), third in community service, and fourth in Lip-Sync (a dance competition). Delta Gamma and Iowa Beta also raised over $35,557 collectively for the Special Olympics Iowa to place third in total fundraising and second in the Polar Bear Plunge philanthropic event. The Greek Week victory resulted from hundreds of hours of hard work and planning by Phi Psis and DGs alike. For Iowa Beta, the week was a gratifying and high-spirited time that will surely be remembered fondly by all who participated.

Kansas Alpha – Kansas

This semester, Kansas Alpha achieved remarkable success in its recruitment efforts. The chapter successfully signed 24 members, five being out-of-state, for the fall 2024 class. Central to their recruitment success were several events. Notably, the chapter organized watch parties for the Chiefs and Kansas basketball games, consistently brought potential new members (PNM) to local golf courses, as well as held formal brunch and dinner events that not only celebrated sportsmanship, but also provided a sense of excitement. These events offered an ideal setting for PNMs to connect with current members, learn about the Fraternity’s values, and experience Brotherhood firsthand. During the summer, we will be sending representatives to the Oklahoma Alpha Chapter to help them restructure their recruitment model by introducing strategies used by Kansas Alpha to ensure an efficient and productive fall Rush. Kansas Alpha is dedicated to providing PNMs an environment and brotherhood committed to personal and collective achievement.

Minnesota Beta won the Intramural Fraternity Hockey League championship, placing first! This was done by the combined effort of our 15+ chapter hockey players, volunteer chapter coaches, and university volunteer staff. March 24, we hosted our annual Mini Masters Golf Philanthropy at our chapter house. Every on-campus chapter member participated in the event, which included over 70 actives, not to mention our friends and families! With the help of individual and local business donations, our chapter raised around $5,500 dedicated to the Folds of Honor organization in our area. This organization dedicates its donations to families or individuals harmed in the line of military duty. Our chapter is proud to have raised this figure toward a good cause and hopes that this philanthropy event can serve as an example in the future of setting the bar high.

We partnered up with the sorority, Gamma Zeta Pi, for our annual safe driving campaign. We got over $750 in donations and over 100 signatures to help end distracted driving. This was our most successful campaign in the five years we have been doing the campaign. We were very happy to have 100% participation of our brothers and pledges tabling for the cause.

We were excited to celebrate our 55th local Founders Day, May 17-18! During the spring semester, we renovated the bathroom in our chapter house and raised over $600 for our local philanthropy! We were also honored to attend Minnesota Beta’s Founders Day event in February, where we had an amazing time. Five of our brothers had a great time in Indianapolis for the AFLV Central conference as well. LEDN

We are proud to initiate 12 gentlemen to our Brotherhood this spring. Our Rush has been very successful this year due to the great efforts of our recruitment chairman. Our chapter held a philanthropy event that raised over $2,000 to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Our chapter also participated in Rockin’ Against Multiple Sclerosis (RAMS) and placed fourth. We raised $1,600, the most out of any fraternity or sorority participating in RAMS, thanks to our alumni. A trash cleanup was organized at our local trail, known as the MKT. Given its proximity to our house and the trail’s popularity among our members, residents, and students, our brothers helped conserve its environment for our community.

Nebraska Alpha – Nebraska

Submitted By: Ryan Westerman ’22

The brothers of the Nebraska Alpha Chapter traveled to Colorado for an out-of-state brotherhood event. Many of us skied and snowboarded at Keystone Resort, while others explored the lodge at the bottom of the mountain. We ended the trip with all 30 of us eating together at a 5-star restaurant before starting our road trip back to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

At Texas Beta we are striving to help the community around us and have taken the initiative to go above and beyond. This semester we launched a new philanthropic event called Phi Psi 500. A weeklong event with the goal for our chapter and the 12 Panhellenic sororities to raise 500 service hours per chapter through unique events like banner competitions, a 5k race and much more! We are very excited to launch Phi Psi 500 and feel it is a fantastic and innovative way to get the Greek community involved in philanthropic activities.

Texas Epsilon – SFA

This semester, Texas Epsilon paired up with Sigma Alpha Mu and Tri-Delt to participate in Greek Week. This is a fun week for all chapters on campus to compete in friendly competitions, whether it be volleyball or small mini games. Greek Week is always something our chapter looks forward to participating in because it’s fun and helps strengthen our relationships with other chapters on campus.
